Why Study Spanish?

the world's third most spoken "first" language, used as
such by more than 412 million people in 23 countries.

2000 the U.S. Census Bureau reported 32.3 million persons of
Hispanic origin, 12.5% of the total national population. In effect, the
U.S. is the world's 5th largest Spanish-speaking country, after
Mexico, Spain, Colombia and Argentina.
