What is the Electronics Engineering Technology program?
Electronics Engineering Technology is a two-year Associate Degree program designed for students interested in obtaining employment in the electronics related areas.

What kinds of jobs are available for graduates?
The electronics technician may install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate or sell electrical, or electronic that is used by consumers, business or industry.
Industrial: Manufacturing
Audio/Video/Broadband: Radio and television stations, security companies, public service institutions, highway patrol, etc.
Biomedical: Hospitals, medical equipment repair services, medical offices (the better jobs require traveling and/or relocation)
Telecommunications: Telephone companies, cable TV companies, independent contractors

How much will a graduate earn?
Starting pay for entry-level positions (little or no experience) is $15 - $30 per hour. The entry-level salaries listed were obtained through the RH Employment Security Commission’s Labor Market Division in 2005.
What opportunities exist for advancement?
Many of our graduates have doubled or tripled their salaries in less than 10 years. Some graduates have formed their own businesses, become managers, or lead technicians. Advancement depends on the company and the ambitions of the graduate.
Can credits be transferred for a Bachelors Degree?
Most of the institutions offering a Bachelor of Engineering Technology will accept the first two years of Electronics Engineering Technology towards a Bachelors of Engineering Technology degree.
What preparation does one need to enroll?
To enroll you need to have a high school diploma or GED. It is recommended that the applicant have a strong math and algebra background as well.
What are the courses offered in the program?
Courses include analog and digital circuits, analog and digital integrated circuits, data and radio frequency (wireless) communications, transducers and sensors, fractional horsepower motors, microprocessor interfacing and computer troubleshooting. The classrooms are designed for multimedia presentations and courses are offered during the evening. The laboratories have modern test equipment and computer networks that provide hands-on training for circuit analysis, computer simulations, microprocessor interfacing and computer troubleshooting. In addition to the core courses in electronics, courses in English, Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus, Economics or Psychology, Technology and Society and Physics are required. Students are required to participate in a Senior Seminar and construct a project in Senior Projects.
Students can take electives in Computer Aided Design (CAD) of printed circuit boards, programmable logic controllers (PLC), industrial electronics, telecommunications, audio/video/broadband communications, and biomedical equipment repair.
1. Complete and submit a York Technical College application at www.yorktech.com
2. Take the York Technical College placement test (COMPASS) or submit SAT or ACT scores. Contact the Assessment Center at (803) 981-7176 or 1-800-922-TECH for operating hours. If you have previously attended college, contact an Admissions counselor to determine if you need to take the COMPASS.
3. Have an interview with an Admissions counselor and be accepted into a program.
Financial Aid is available for those students who are qualified. Visit the Financial Aid office in the Student Services building to pick up applications for a variety of scholarships
